Mexican food in Japan
Brian and I LOVE Mexican food, and being that we lived in San Diego for 1 1/2 years we really came to like the good stuff. So we have been a little deprived here in Japan. There is a restaurant near base that is pretty close, but it's still not the same. So Brian has been telling me a friend of his on the ship know where a good place is in Tokyo. Well, I of course don't want to get my hopes up so I don't believe him. Brian says, "No, really he's Mexican and he knows what he is talking about..." So of course my response, "Who cares just cause he is Mexican doesn't mean anything, he probably grew up in Kansas" Ha! Well, of course we finally go to Tokyo with this guy and Brian has to tell him I said all that! Turns out he is the first generation to be born in America, and he does know good Mexican food.
So off to Tokyo we go. We finally get to this place (I can't remember the name... La Fonda something something) and they have been bought out for the night by a wedding party. Crap! So Roberto starts calling some people to try to find out where another Mexican restaurant was that he had heard about. While we are waiting for information we start walking towards Roppongi where we think this other restaurant is. Well, the minute someone calls with all the info we needed I look over and see Junkadelic. Hilarious! I took picture before we even decided to go there. It was really good food. It was definitely an adventure too. By the time we got there it was pretty late and by the time we left we were rushing to get back home before the last trains went. Of course we did not make it and had to catch a cab back home... I think we had about 20km to go, which we thought wasn't bad, but it was a bit expensive. Oh well.

Yeah - I know what you mean about missing good Mexican food. We had a really good one here in Wellington when we first moved here. It soon closed. Now - a few years later, another Mexican resturant is opening any day now in the same place. Only about two blocks from our place. It's a drive thru too and will be open 24 hours a day. Nice They have the menu up already outside so we can see what they will have. Oh yum!! Things we haven't had since El Cajon, Calif. days at Roberto's, Juanberto's, etc, our favorite little Mexican place to eat. We are so excited. I know how you feel. We love good Mexican food. It's alittle hard to come by here. A couple of O.K. places in town but over the mountain it gets much better like we like it but now it will be so close to home. We can hardly wait.
